Instructions
Fine
Linens require fine care. Hand embroidered linen items can have long lives
and become treasured family heirlooms if taken care of properly.
1. Machine wash on a delicate cycle.
2. Use a mild detergent, avoiding bleach.
3. After the spin cycle many people will fold their linens and place them
in the freezer until ready to iron.
When ready to iron, thaw your linens for 5-10 minutes, the cloth will
be damp and easy to iron. Use an iron
on a "non-steam" setting. There is already enough moisture in
your cloth. Use starch. This will not hurt the
fabric and will give a crisp new look for ironing. Iron from the reverse
side of embroidery.
4. If you do not put your linens in the freezer, you may line dry. AVOID
A MACHINE DRYER as the intense heat will eventually damage the fabric
as well as causing puckering and fraying of the embroidered areas and
the border.
5. For stains: DO NOT BLEACH. Especially on organdy or silk organza. It
will turn them yellow. For stains, it is best to soak in a mild detergent
like "Linen Wash" or Borax for a prolonged period of time. Do
not "Shout it Out" Often times a day in the sun will naturally
bleach out many stains. For difficult stains, a solution of salt and lemon
applied to stain prior to washing will help.
